Local JPEG date reader
Separate capture, digitization and file modification times
Read JPEG EXIF dates, UTC offsets, subsecond digits, standard XMP dates and GPS UTC time. Your browser's file modification timestamp appears separately. Missing timezones stay unknown. No dates are changed or uploaded.
Examples contain fictional timestamps. This reader covers full date-time values and simple standard XMP date properties; extended XMP reassembly is not included. Stored dates are editable claims.
Supported files and output
JPEG EXIF and standard XMP dates, up to 20 MiB. Capture, digitization, modification, GPS UTC and browser file modification are kept separate. Raw strings, subseconds and explicit offsets are preserved; an unknown timezone remains unknown. Conflicts are observations, not corrections to the file.
Read the result with its coverage
Stored fields can be edited, copied or removed. A successful read describes the selected file’s supported containers; missing fields cannot be recovered from its pixels. A damaged or unsupported container has its own result. Review private values before copying or sharing a report.
These file operations run locally. The separate image checker can send file-header data and a reduced image copy for a model reading. Read the method and limitations when that is the task you need.

- Photo metadata tasks: dates, orientation, thumbnails and batch handoffs — Choose a local workflow for photo dates, timezones, display orientation, embedded thumbnails, batch metadata reports and verified cleaning copies.
- Find a photo's stored capture time without confusing file dates — Read capture, digitization, image modification, GPS UTC and browser file modification dates separately, preserve subsecond digits and export a local report.
- Understand photo timezones before converting a stored date — Match EXIF date fields with their offset and subsecond tags, keep absent timezones unknown, and verify an example that crosses midnight when converted to UTC.
- EXIF viewer and exports — Inspect the stored camera, location and caption fields.
- Remove selected metadata — Create a verified static-image copy with supported categories removed.
